The BIG ADVENTURE

As part of my Jubilee celebrations towards the big Five Oh I decided on a solo trip of a lifetime, exploring Botswana, then on to see the Victoria Falls, heading south through Namibia, back to South Africa. The budget was less than shoestring and inexpensive Baked Beans appeared on my menu.

The older posts are about my preparations and the newer ones are from my adventure to date.

Driving music

I have a Harman Kardon Drive and Play for playing my iPod  through the stereo in my trusty steed, my LSP (little silver Pajero). On long distances I'm inclined to play my music VERY LOUD!  I can't see my Baked Beans Jubilee being any different.

Here are some of the albums I always play at one stage or another on any long journey

I rate Fleetwood Mac Rumours as the Best Album ever!

I sing the all the words to all the songs on this album -- I wonder what happened to him??
Painted Desert Serenade will be appropriate for Namibia

I love songs like "Cherry Bomb", "Paper In Fire" and "Pink Houses".

More Than a Feeling . . . .  does a girl need to say more?

No trip is complete without U2, the world's greatest band!!!
Beautiful Day

What are your favourite or usual driving tunes?

Oh Janet!
My life is a road movie, dotted by occasional stops.

The music that has accompanied me all along and inspired my life is by U2, Bob Dylan, Ali Farka Touré, Dave Matthews, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ben Harper, Cesaria Evora, Pretenders, Coldplay, Jack Johnson, Portishead, Fleetwood Mac, Rolling Stones... this could go on much much longer.

Hugs,
Lola

Love your taste in music Jan. I'm intending to do a lot more road trips myself now that I'm a free girl. Will be listening to tons of Sinead O' Connor I'm sure to help in the "healing" process :-). "Faith and Courage" and the like. Also will listen to Joshua Kadison. By the way he's still around. His website is http://www.joshuakadison.com/home.php. Go check it out.

Love this blog. Keep it up!
