After a hectic 32 days of 2010 FIFA World Cup, my attention is back on my adventure. You can read some of my soccer stuff on my other blog, Under The Blood Red Sky under Halftime and Game Over.
When I was in Cape Town for one of the games, I took time out to visit the Namibia Wildlife Resorts office to fully pay my six nights camping in Etosha National Park. NWR shares the office with Namibia Tourism and, WOW, there is so much information on Namibia I had to curb my pamphlet-grabbing or I would have had baggage excess on my next flight.
This map is intended for some of my new readers who don't know
what or where Namibia or Botswana are
The Namibia Tourism lady told me she has travelled extensively around Namibia on her own, in a normal sedan (no 4x4 or SUV or similar) and driven 1000's of kilometres on the gravel roads with no problems. I hope that makes those of you concerned for my safety and solo endeavour feel a little better. She has given me a 23-page document of camping places from the south to the north of the country --- and to think I had doubts about finding a camping spot in some places.
I won't be spending too much time in Botswana, but Elephant Sands is definitely on my itinerary (thanks Karen of Border Town Notes)
I am plotting and planning and firming up a route and the next update should be way more informative.
Mr Jones is looking over my computer, keeping an eye on what I've got in store for the two of us.
Till next time xx
