Tomorrow morning, early, before it's even bright, I'm finally hitting the road on my adventure. After much thought, debate in my head, and trying to find accommodation in Kruger National Park, the first four days of my trip have been finalised.
Monday I drove to Durban to spend a lovely night with my longtime friends Tinky and Bill, who were storing my roofrack. Over a couple of glasses of wine, we reminisced, laughed and discussed my adventure and the myriad of places we all still want to visit in Africa. Yesterday I had the roofrack installed on my LSP. Suffice to say the job was NOT completed in the promised two to three hours and six hours later I hit the road back to Joburg.
What's happened to Namibia and Botswana? Why Kruger I hear you ask? To be honest, I need to ease myself into this whole solo travelling adventure. I've decided to test my mettle in a park that I love and in a rustic camp in Kruger I've not yet visited. This also gives me the opportunity to test my new 'toys' and to assure myself I'm self sufficient enough to adventure solo into Botswana and Namibia.
I've booked into Tsendze in the northern part of Kruger and interestingly the name Tsendze is the Tsonga word for 'tsendzeleka' or 'to ramble around like someone lost in the bush'. It promises a rustic experience within the natural environment. I will be rambling around southern Africa, but hopefully not "lost".
I will be blogging through my adventure and sharing some of my experiences with you all.
Till then . . .
